‘Back to the Future’ Celebrates Cambium’s History of Passion, Innovation and Impact
Those inspired by our past are the ones shaping our future.
This year, we accelerated our focus as a global leader in the PreK-12 edtech space by focusing on our purpose: helping all students and teachers feel universally seen, valued, and supported. The results speak for themselves, and I’m happy to share that Cambium now serves more than 20 million students and 30% of U.S. teachers across 94% of U.S. districts and more than 170 countries. We also added nearly 400 new positions in 2021 alone, and expect to add more than 600 new positions in 2022.
Our people are what make it possible for us to drive such meaningful impact. And in Cambium’s latest video, “Back to the Future,” we highlight our legacy of impact as an inspiring reminder of why we do what we do. I hope that current employees are proud of the work that they have done and will continue to do to help education move forward, and that prospective employees watching it are inspired to join our company to help address education’s most persistent challenges.
The highlights of the video for me are the headlines that take us through the history of Cambium and into the future. It starts in 1984 with the genesis of Bob Lemire's company, Lexia. When I see the associated headline I am so inspired by Bob Lemire’s passion and pleased with how we’ve continued his legacy.
Moving forward 20 years, the 2004 headline “New Company Uses Technology to Bring School Home for Parents” flashes before us. In the context of the pandemic, I can’t help but think how ahead of the times Time4Learning was.
The 2035 headline is one that fills me with so much excitement and drive: “U.S. Reaches Literacy Milestone, with all students now reading proficiently according to the latest Nation’s report card.” Reading that makes me hopeful for a more equitable future and proud that we’re helping to lead the way towards it.
Watch the video to see more of the headlines that have defined Cambium’s proud legacy, and will guide its future:
