Join the Cambium Family in Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Observed each year on the third Monday of January, Martin Luther King Jr. Day honors the life and legacy of Dr. King, a monumental leader of the Civil Rights Movement who fought tirelessly for equality, justice, and freedom for all.
Dr. King’s leadership played a pivotal role in dismantling segregation, challenging systemic racism, and advancing civil rights through nonviolent resistance. At Cambium, our work in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strives to support, empower, and uplift the diverse communities of students, teachers, and families we serve while simultaneously supporting all employees to show up as their best, authentic selves. Like Dr. King and his efforts to lead a purposeful life through his dynamic leadership, we as an organization work every day to live our purpose of ensuring that the communities we serve feel seen, valued and supported.
While he was a man of many impactful words, one of Dr. King’s most powerful expressions was, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” It is in this spirit that Martin Luther King Jr. Day has become known as “a day on, not a day off.” This theme calls on each of us to honor Dr. King’s legacy by engaging in acts of service that uplift our communities.
At Cambium, we are proud to support service and community involvement through our Volunteer Service Time program, providing our team members with an opportunity to participate in education-focused opportunities and natural disaster recovery efforts in schools and the broader community. Whether it’s volunteering with a local organization, mentoring youth, donating to a cause close to your heart, or organizing a community clean-up, there are countless ways to give back.
Dr. King’s dream for an America where all people are judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character, continues to inspire us to strive for a better, more equitable world.
Let us remember that Dr. King’s work is not just a part of history but an ongoing call to action. By serving others and working toward equity and inclusion, we honor his legacy and contribute to building the just and compassionate society he envisioned.
I am honored to be part of a team that strives to make a difference, not just within our company, but across the communities we serve.
