2020 Reflections
Important Milestones in the Year that Changed Education Forever
2020 is a year we will not soon forget. Our world changed seemingly overnight, and we had to adapt to completely new ways of living under challenging conditions. The pandemic spurred change across industries, but perhaps most notably outside of healthcare, it impacted education. I’m proud of the way we adapted at Cambium Learning Group to better serve our customers, which resulted in one of our most successful years. It has been a privilege to see our companies jump in and fill the learning gaps that COVID-19 exacerbated, reaching millions of students throughout the US and globally.
Cambium Learning Group in 2020: By the Numbers
Our business units had incredible growth this year, proving the importance of our digital-centric solutions for educators and learners in a COVID-19 world. Here are some of the successes by the numbers:
- 28.7 million: Number of ExploreLearning Gizmos® launched between March-November
- 20.5 million: Number of cumulative “Green Light Days,” in Reflex® Math, which indicates a successful completion of a day’s practice
- 475,000: Number of teachers, administrators and parents that signed up to receive access to Learning A-Z’s Raz-Kids® online literacy platform and its Headsprout® adaptive reading program between March and June 2020.
- 36 million: Number of hours of literacy learning that Lexia students have completed since March 2020.
Growing the Cambium Family of Companies
Through two important acquisitions this year (Cambium Assessment and Rosetta Stone, which includes Lexia Learning), Cambium Learning Group strengthened its position as one of the premier providers of K-12 education solutions at scale, serving virtually all 13,500 US school districts and over 170 countries worldwide. I look forward to continuing to expand our portfolio of digital-centric education brands in 2021.
More Accolades for Cambium Learning Solutions
We closed out the year with exciting industry recognitions from Tech & Learning at ISTE 2020. Voyager Sopris Learning’s LETRS and Reading Rangers were named Best of Show at ISTE, while Rosetta Stone English earned a Best of 2020 award. The awards program recognizes products that are changing the way students are educated around the world, and we couldn’t be prouder to have Cambium companies recognized among this collection of important education solutions.
A New Look
Cambium reintroduced itself to the world this year. Working with partners and customers, we unveiled a new brand identity that reflects our aspirational intent: to gather brands that deliver on education's most essential elements: simplicity, certainty, and now. In the years to come, these three elements will guide our path as we pursue our mission of ensuring all teachers and students feel valued and supported.
Looking Forward
I’m incredibly proud of what Cambium has accomplished in 2020. We’ve made significant business moves and our employees have shown incredible flexibility and perseverance, finding a way to be highly productive in adverse circumstances. Most importantly, our house of brands has made a tremendous difference in the lives of so many students, teachers and parents and I look forward to continuing that work in 2021 and beyond.
