What ‘Simplicity, Certainty and Now’ Mean for Product Leaders
Learn what ‘Simplicity, Certainty and Now’ mean for the VP of Product Development & Design and the VP of Curriculum & Assessment at Lexia.
Lexia’s Product Philosophy
It’s usually the case that nothing good happens in isolation. That holds true for developing edtech products. It’s a team sport. After 14 years working together at Lexia, we know the only way to make great products is to work from the same playbook and articulate common goals.
While our teams are organized vertically by domain (i.e. engineering, design, curriculum), our products are built horizontally. Across our teams, we share a product philosophy that is grounded in three areas: student-centric decision making, educator empowerment and technology as an enabler of student engagement.
This product philosophy goes hand-in-hand with Cambium's purpose: Helping all teachers and students feel seen, valued, and supported. When we think about how Cambium's essential elements of simplicity, certainty, and now manifest in our work, it's easy for us to make direct connections between these essential elements and how we inform our product strategy.

How Simplicity, Certainty and Now Look in Action
It starts with simplicity. At their core, our products need to be simple for educators and students. For an educator, it’s about minimizing the time and steps needed to help their students and reducing the complexity of student performance and progress data. For students, it’s all about focusing on keeping them engaged with learning.
To us, certainty means that it’s our job to make sure the curriculum is effective, the experience is engaging, and the app is fast and accessible on any device. Educators using our products need to know that they can be certain they are getting accurate, actionable information to drive instruction.
We’re always focused on the now. By constantly monitoring our products in real time, as well as releasing product updates and support materials, we’re able to respond to educator and student requests in a timely manner. We’re constantly listening to educators and responding to feedback because adjusting in real time is crucial to best support teachers and students.
Keeping simplicity, certainty, and now at the center of our work ensures that Lexia products will continue to make a significant positive impact for all educators and students.
