Looking Back & Forward: My Thanks and Gratitude To All
2021 was a year filled with contrasts. On the education front, we continued to face challenges, but we also had reasons to celebrate.
2021 was a year filled with contrasts. It was a year filled with hope and relief thanks to the vaccines created in record time to help slow the spread of COVID-19. It was also a time of ongoing fear, uncertainty and loss. New variants continued to develop, many lost loved ones, and health care workers continued to be challenged with overrun hospitals.
On the education front, we continued to face challenges, but we also had reasons to celebrate. Many students and teachers were back in the physical classroom for the 2021-2022 school year, and those that maintained a hybrid or remote approach had about a year of practice under their belt to leverage edtech in the best way possible to drive success. However, teachers are more burned out than ever, with many taking on additional jobs like serving lunches or vacuuming the hallways just to keep day-to-day operations running properly at schools.
Our employees showed us that they can have a huge impact whether they’re working from home or in the office. Because of this and the overwhelming desire from our employees to continue working from home, I am excited about Cambium’s Remote First work model that we will continue into 2022. The transition to Remote First work has required each of us to adopt new ways of working and staying connected. In making this transition, equity and flexibility are our North Stars.
At Cambium, I am so proud of each and every one of our employees. We all come from different backgrounds and play different roles, but one thing is shared: our purpose to help all teachers and students feel seen, valued and supported. Thank you for another spectacular year of service.
To the educators we serve, I am humbled to be on this journey together with you, especially at this challenging time. Thank you for your heroic, essential work and leadership. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and I look forward to another year of continued partnership.
